Once a teacher always a teacher

We visited Yvonne in Queenstown where she was a much loved and respected teacher. She recounted a story about one of her pupils arriving at school wearing a colorful beanie. The child came bearing a note from his mother. Apparently Yvonne had told the children that they had to come prepared to problem solve the next day and they would all have to wear their “thinking caps” to solve the puzzle. The mother wrote, apologizing for the fact that her little one didn’t have a “thinking cap” but hoped the knitted one would do.
Yvonne told the story with such compassion and gentle humour. It has remained with me as a life lesson from a dedicated teacher.

Daph. Thanks for sharing that story, we all recall it and cherish the way mom shared the story with everyone.
